Putting Green Reviews
We thought it was time to start a putting green reviews section and we start it off with an indoor putting green which is a portable putting green as well. LinksPutt came to us all the way from Scotland and I was pretty jazzed to hear that it was on its way to us for review...because I had been to the LinkPutt site and was impressed by the pros that use the putting green.
I wanted to give this putting green a test drive...er...test putt...and I will fill you in on what I thought of the experience in this review.

It has three base panels that are made of polypropylene material. They connect together easily and securely and form the base or foundation of the putting green. The polypropylene turf used for the putting surface comes nicely rolled and easily rolls out to fit over the base panels. You just roll it out and place it directly over the putting green foundation.
Two holes are pre-cut into the end base panel and also the turf...very simple...no need to do any work. You just match the holes on the turf over the holes on the foundation and your ready to putt.
There are pieces that easily slide over the back and sides of the turf to keep your golf ball from rolling off the surface...hopefully, you won't need these much as you will be stroking every putt dead center.
A really cool feature of the LinksPutt system is the "stance board." This is a well made piece that goes to the side of the green (on either side you choose) with its own turf on top. You stand on this while putting. This keeps you off the panels or putting surface...yet allows you to be even with the surface while putting. It is moveable, so you can practice putts of different lengths.
I found the turf to have a nice roll to it. The manufacturer says on their site that it rolls about 9.5 on the stimp meter which means you need to put a little something on the putt from the flat position...but when you start playing with the accessories you can use to control break and speed...I found that you can get a good bit more speed than that.
These "risers" that allow you to control break and speed, can be placed in different places under and around the putting foundation. They look like what you use to hit the puck when you are playing air hockey...and I will admit I was a little skeptical about how they would actually work...
...I'm a believer now. They worked great. You can raise the back of the green, the sides...you can basically put a break anywhere you want.
I really couldn't believe how realistic the first break I tried was (a left to right). The reaction of the golf ball to the break was natural. It is very easy to just place the pieces where you want the break and practice that putt within seconds.
This putting green is very easy to putt together and manipulate. It is also very portable and light...if you want to putt outside or in another room. It is a snap to place the risers where you need to for practicing left to right, right to left, uphill or downhill putts (a big plus).
The bottom line for my review of the LinksPutt putting green...if you are looking for a portable putting green that will allow you to practice a wide range of putts to really help lower your scores and have a lot of fun doing it...you should check this putting green out.
